Point of You

Point Of You is a thought-provoking coming-of-age novella that follows four teenagers and two of their parents as they navigate grief, identity, and belief.

Structured in seven acts and told from shifting perspectives, it evolves from a simple story into a meditation on the human condition; wrestling with good vs evil, free will vs predestination, and the nature of God, further delving into theology and theodicy.

As the reader, you can read the first six acts in any order, and conclude with Act VII to close the story.

Blending psychology, spirituality, and teenage emotion, Point Of You is part confessional, part confrontation, and part prayer. In the end, it asks a question not just of its characters, but of the reader:

What is the Point of You?

Point of all

De Peccato ad Agape

Poems are a way to reach the truth.
And I have a very particular Truth I’m trying to reach.

This Anthology of Poetry, titled Point of All: De Peccato ad Agape is a companion to the above novella Point of You.

The subtitle De Peccato ad Agape is a blend of Latin (chosen for its theological history) and Greek (the language of the New Testament). Translated, it reads From Sin to Godly Love, which is exactly the mission of the anthology.

Written from both my perspective, and the perspectives of the characters in Point of You, these poems expand on their story in a way that’s enabled me to explore faith, doubt, and agape in a way that only poetry really enables.

What about me…? Who am I…?

I am… Complicated — and I mean that in the humblest possible way. I won’t go into detail right now, but it’s pretty much down to the fact that I try to fill all 24 hours of the day with productivity (difficult, given both sleep and social media are of course still necessary) which leads to a lot on my plate. But to be brief, I’ve put together a short introduction in case you’re interested.

In school, we’re often taught to give more than a one-word answer to questions. But, one thing I love about language, is that we’ve developed it in such a way that singular words can carry so much meaning. I wonder which ones would best define me.

Faithful? Absolutely.
Curious? That works.
Guided? Oh 100%, yes, that’s it.

Actually, I’m guided by; my faith, my curiosity, my parents, my peers…
My ways, my society, my desires, my fears.
By Him.

By Him.
He guides me.
And if you’re not sure who He is… I’d love for you to find Him…
And I hope my work might help you along that path.

His name is Jesus btw.

I am… a Student?

You might have noticed by now that I ask a lot of questions.

When I was little, my dad used to make a remark, something along the lines of, ‘I’ve heard that kids ask, on average, around 4–6,000 questions a year… but Jake asks that in a day!’ I’m Jake by the way, short for Jacob, which is in a way short for Jacob-Joseph. We’ll get onto that later.

I am a student, formally studying Literature and Religious Studies and LOVING IT. Honestly, the kind of questions you have to ask when you study these two topics are astounding and infinitely interesting.

Naturally, these two topics coincide when it comes to writing two books exploring faith, hahaha.

Would 100% recommend studying RS btw.

I am… Jacob-Joseph.

Names are really important.

Fun fact: One of God’s names (His original, I think) is Yahweh. In the original Hebrew, it would be written with the equivalent letters of YHWH. When read aloud, those letters are pronounced… Just as breathing. Inhale YH, and exhale WH.
I love that. The first name we speak as a newborn baby, and the last one we’ll utter before we move onto the next life, is His name.
He’s so cool, isn’t He?

But anyway, about me.
My legal first name is Jacob.
The saint I chose when I was confirmed Catholic was Saint Joseph, the adoptive father of Jesus of Nazareth.
Together, my pseudonym is Jacob-Joseph.
I think my name is a pretty good one-word definition of who I am — I AM, by the way, is another translation of Yahweh!

Jacob is the name chosen for me by my parents, it always reminds me of my family, of loved ones, of people.
Joseph is the name I chose when I entered the church, chosen for my vocation to be a father one day.
Jacob-Joseph is the author of my work, and pretty much the embodiment of who I am.

I think that’s a decent bio…

My Blog

As I said, I ask a lot of questions! Sometimes, these questions need to get out. Sometimes, they appear in the form of poems, sometimes they appear in the form of a character, and sometimes… they’re just questions. I’ll post them here if you’re interested, might make you ask more too.

Hailstorm

1 November 2025

I was struck seven times.
And each time I withheld my tongue.
I clenched my fist, yet kept it mine,
Not used against the face of the erred young.

Broken Mirror

1 November 2025

You thought breaking the mirror
So you couldn’t see yourself
Would erase the guilt from your eyes.
But the shattered glass fell
In the shape of a broken heart,
And you stare at your reflection
Without affection. Your eyes shine in shards seven more times.
